We begin celebrating Red Ribbon Week at Pound Middle School today!  Did you know that on March 9, 1985, hundreds of law enforcement officers gathered in California to pay their last respects to a Drug Enforcement Administration agent who was brutally murdered by drug traffickers in Guadalajara, Mexico.  At the same time, residents in a small Florida community began a demonstration of their respect of the drug enforcement agent’s courage.  Demonstrations soon began all over the nation.  They displayed red ribbons. This was the beginning of what we still celebrate today  – – – – – RED RIBBON WEEK! Your Future is Key, So Stay Drug Free!

This message applies to all lunches but especially 7th grade / 3rd lunch. We need to do a better job of making sure that food is kept in the cafeteria and not taken out to be eaten at recess or disposed of in the hallways. In the cafeteria and the hall, there is never a reason to throw any sort of food item. Please consider this a ‘final warning’ to many of you– if you need further reminders they will come in the form of lunch detentions and referrals – neither of which will be pleasant.
