ANNOUNCEMENTS:

VETERAN’S DAY: In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day (when fighting ceased in WWI). Veterans Day continues to be observed on November 11, regardless of what day of the week on which it falls. The restoration of the observance of Veterans Day to November 11 not only preserves the historical significance of the date, but helps focus attention on the important purpose of Veterans Day: A celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

WRESTLING: The end of the year wrestling meeting will be this Wednesday after school in room 220.

BOOK FAIR: Thank you to all students and staff that came and supported Pound at the Barnes and Noble Book Fair!  We had a wonderful turnout.  Special thank you to all the students that volunteered their time to make it happen, we appreciate you!  The winner of the Barnes and Noble Book Fair Raffle is:  7th grader Charlotte Anderson!  Stop at the Library after school to get your prize.

HOPE SQUAD:  On Thursday, 11/13, Pound will celebrate World Kindness Day. As much as we want to spread kindness to others, it’s equally important to be kind to ourselves. If we feel good, then we are able to share goodness with others. Many people run themselves down for mistakes they’ve made or for what they do not have. Some ways you can be kind to yourself are: Eat healthy, exercise, laugh, and get plenty of sleep. Love who you are. If you haven’t been kind to yourself, then start now.

~ Remember to drop your Pound Pounds in your English classroom for an opportunity to meet with Pound’s Hope Squad on Thursday during 7th period for our “Kindness Warms the Heart” event. Remember treats will be provided! Mr. Haines will draw student names from each grade to come. Turn in your Pound Pounds today and tomorrow!!

PENNY WARS: Hey Hey Hey! It’s the second day of Penny Wars, so be sure to stop by after school and put money in the jars. Silver coins and paper bills add to your total. Put those in your grade’s jar. Pennies remove from other grade’s totals, don’t put those in yours. Remember, the winning grade will have a movie day!

8TH GRADERS: There are several Focus Program Open Houses this week. This is a great opportunity to see if one of them is a good fit for you!
