REMINDER:There is no school on Monday.

MLK DAY: On Monday, the United States celebrates a true American hero, Dr. Martin Luther King.  Dr. King worked as a Baptist minister and a civil rights activist and began making a significant impact on race relations in the mid-1950s. He was also a spokesperson for nonviolent activism during the Civil Rights Movement. He played a significant role in ending legal segregation of African-Americans in the South and across the nation.  MLK is famous for his 1963, “I Have a Dream” speech. He received many honors, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964, before he was assassinated in April 1968.

POUND STORE: Stocked with new items, the store will be open today after school in the cafeteria!

SPELLING BEE: It’s not too late to sign up for the 35th Annual LPS Spelling Bee!  All middle school students are welcome to participate.  See your Humanities or English teachers to get the registration form. The competition is on Saturday, February 4, and registration is due on January 28.  

BOYS BASKETBALL PRACTICE:  Today 8A and 7 A&B. As always, you can check this week’s practice schedule on Jump Code BORK. Email your coach or find Reinwald w questions.

8TH GRADERS: We strongly encourage you to attend the meeting for the high school you will be attending next fall.  If you are trying to decide which school to attend, you can go to the meetings at all the schools you’re considering. All meetings start at 6:30 pm.

If you choose to attend a school that is not your home high school, you need to complete a High School Choice form. The deadline is January 31st.  Forms are located on lps.org.

TRAP TEAM: A Parent meeting for new members will be on Sunday. Info sheets in the office. 

STUCO: There is no student council meeting during lunch today; however there is an optional student council meeting after school. Check the student council Google classroom at the end of the day for a new post from Mrs. Rigoni.

MEDIA CENTER: The Library is closed for lunch & recess. 

CLUBS TODAY: Friday Fun Club in the Library , Magic: the Gathering in 217 & Yu-Gi-Oh, and Ukulele/Guitar in the Vocal Music Room

CLUBS TUESDAY: There are no clubs Tuesday
